There are two dirty words that disrupt the lives of every believer at one time or another. They have defeated the strong and confounded the weak. And they’re on the attack 24/7 x 365 days a year. The name for these dirty words are, “worry” and “fear”. Some of their easiest targets are those professing faith in a Savior who proclaimed, “And lo, I am with you all ways, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20 KJV)

Their speech is inaudible to the ear, yet they spend hours screaming into your heart and mind that your situation is hopeless and you might was well give up on yourself and God when nothing could be further from the truth.

I was reminded of this fact recently during my morning meditation as I reflected on my own feelings of anxiousness. From the devotion, I was reminded that God is with us always, that He never leaves or forsakes us.

It sounds good, right? In fact, it’s a comforting thought for those of us who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. We rest in the knowledge of this promise and fully expect God to be there in the sweet by and by.

Yet, in a moment of crisis (real or imagined) it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that God is with you during whatever trial by fire you currently find yourself in—that God is there ready to guide you through if you simply keep your heart and mind on Him rather than the problem at hand.

The next time you find yourself under attack by one of these dirty words, remember—as I am making a more concerted effort to do–that Christ is with you in every situation regardless of how bad things may seem to you.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)
